Photo number 1 is of one of my favorite minerals in my collection. This is cavansite (the blue ball). It is a phyllosilicate mineral. The name...very creative. It's a shortened version of its composition. Calcium Vanadium Silicate. It's pretty cool, but for our purposes here, it is pretty!! ;) There are two other minerals behind it. The one on the right is lepidolite. It is also a phyllosilicate. Part of the mica group. This one is a block of purple sheets. Also pretty. And the one on the left is andradite, which is a kind of garnet. It is less pretty, but it is also cool. Please excuse the dust on the shelf. There is no time for dusting around here. When I get in my studio, I want to do fun things. haha
Photo number 2 is my manikin. He's the small one. Sometimes I use him for figure studies when I want to draw a person, but I don't have one around. Good for sketching poses anyway. Here he's making some gesture. I found him this way. I think he's saying, "It is a beautiful day, you should go outside!!"...or something. I'll listen to him. Here I go.
